In the yearly comparison with its direct and at least partly German-speaking neighbors Austria and Switzerland, the performance of German networks easily looks somewhat left behind.

But the question can be posed whether this is a fair comparison. Austria entered the mobile communications market under different historical conditions than Germany, and Swiss customers accepted high prices for perfection. The smaller countries also offered the agility in the organisational structures that is important to succeed in a rapidly changing market.

Thus, connect and umlaut have used umlaut’s powerful crowdsourcing methodology to make a comparison among more equal candidates: Large-area countries, where the roll-out of powerful mobile networks with a high coverage is somewhat more demanding. The study presented here compares Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Poland in this respect.

The surprising result it that Germany as a country, and the German mobile network operators achieve the highest scores in this analysis:
In terms of the overall quality of the user experience determined with umlaut’s crowdsourcing, Deutsche Telekom is in the lead with 95.7 percent target achievement. Telefonica and Vodafone follow directly behind with 92 percent each.
